Mestre Cesar's Biography
Mestre Cesar Carneiro was born in Salvador, Bahia - Brasil.
He started to train Capoeira at the age of 9 with Mestre Carlinhos, with whom he trained 2 years. At the age of 11 he went to train with Mestre Alabama, and developed himself under his guidance to an extraordinary Capoeirista and finally to a Mestre himself. Mestre Cesar has participated in several large competitions and events of Capoeira. At the age of 16 he was part of "Bale Folklorico da Bahia" (a very privileged folkloric group). A year later, he joined "Oba-Oba", the largest show-business organization in Brazil and toured with them all over the world. While touring in America, he participated in several Hollywood movies including: "Only the Strong", "Shoot Fighter 2" and "The Quest". Further he participated in several commercials and magazine publications throughout the US. In 1998 Mestre Cesar returned to Bahia to record and promote a CD. Since then he has been also developing a program for street kids in Salvador and participated in several Capoeira events, from Nacao Capoeira and other groups, all over the world. |
